I think this is a fantastic boxset, sign me up for it when it comes out. But after listening to Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run” (which has a GREAT remastered version of the album) and now Darkness, does this mean CBS is going to put out ALL Boss albums like these? Amazing money sink.

Work of Director Mark Romanek
Work of Director Mark Romanek – Mark Romanek is quite a wonderful visionary with music videos. This release has plenty of his videos in it (probably about thirty total) and every video has at least one commentary track on it. After about 3-4 videos I found myself listening to the Romanek commentary instead of the music itself. He really offered some great insight and what he was trying to achieve in each video. His ability to self assess his work is amazing. There is a great making of Jay Z‘s “99 Problems” video is fantastic. There is also a nice documentary on the works of Mark Romanek featuring pretty much all of the music groups he has created for. The Trent Reznor parts are fascinating.

I loved Romanek taking the artistic concepts of Erwin Wurm and place those into the Red Hot Chili Peppers “Can’t Stop” to using a hand crank camera for a NIN video. Amazing.
But my favorite Mark Romanek video HAS to be Janet Jackson’s “Got Till Its Gone”, SO beautiful. There is three commentary tracks Romanek, Janet Jackson and Joni Mitchell.
