Aw crap… Just when I thought I had my home media setup all squared away two things happened:
- TVersity announced a Pro version of their free software (which I’m sure will not be free).
- I spotted the announcement of Subsonic media server on Lifehacker.
Of course I have to give this a try:
Subsonic is a free, web-based media streamer, providing ubiquitous access to your music. Use it to share your music with friends, or to listen to your own music while at work. You can stream to multiple players simultaneously, for instance to one player in your kitchen and another in your living room.
Granted this is just for music, but if the basic TVersity server gets nerfed so you’ll “go pro”, I may need a backup. PLUS the developer is from Norway, so it has to be good.
